A reading teacher at my school was asking me to purchase, or borrow books from other libraries to make a classroom set from a District List. The books on the list were old and many of them were not very interesting when they were written. We need new suggestions for the reading list. She teaches Reading 1 which is mostly freshmen that are reading at a 6th - 8th grade level. She said that the books need to be Fiction, of interest to High School students, have a High school aged main character, and be attractive to a boy or girl reader. She wants books that have been proven to be successful in other High schools. (This is why I am asking for the combined wisdom of all of our brains). She is uncomfortable reading books out loud that have an excess amount of curse words, violence, or intercourse. (I hope this clears your filters.)
