I am looking for books written in the German language for some of my ESL Mennonite German students. I am looking for fiction, nonfiction, easy and am thinking that "Garfield" as well as graphic novels would be very helpful. These students speak German of course, but need the written word as well. Most of them are at a Beginning level of german reader and would like to read the same books that our other students do -- Our Mennonite Laison worker also said that the reading ranges of these students would be from the beginning stages to advanced. Most of the students would not be reading a book like "Harry Potter" in the German language. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to find a Canadian source if possible but would be willing to look further abroad if these materials are not available here.
