Are there any schools in LM_NET land using a newsreader/aggregator to either
manage information or to communicate within the school community? If so,
could you let me know the pros and cons, how you use it and what service you
are using? If you already have a school web page, has the aggregator
replaced the web presence? If you have a library web page, has it been
affected by the use of an aggregator?
My school is looking at using an aggregator service. We already have a web
site that communicates quite well with the community, including a Homework
update page for each grade as well as daily announcements and a link to a
grade reporting program. It has not yet been explained to me how the Library
web page will interface with this service.
I can see some positives to this but also some drawbacks. Teachers will be
able to post their own websites (I'm all for empowering teachers) but many
of them don't know about the invisible web and will take the first five
Google hits instead. I need to learn more about this.
I'd be interested in your opinions and / or experiences.
