I'll be looking forward to the article/compilation of what others do to improve the aesthetics of their library. I've been waiting a long time to ask the group this related question: How do you make the patron side of your circulation station attractive, or at least not to computerish? When youngsters walk up to our circulation desk they see the back of the computer and some (lots of) wires. I tried wire guides/hiders - doesn't look much better. It was interesting a few years ago when a student made me a National Library Week card and drew me standing behind the circ desk: there was an UGLY gray box dwarfing the adorable child-drawn child in the portrait!
