LM_NET Archive



It looks like next year with the adoption of new science textbooks that I
will be in charge of circulating them.  Since we have Follett I am assuming
that we will go with Destiny.  Can someone email me off-list about this
program, if you have it?  I have some questions about the program that the
site doesn't answer.  They are talking about using a Dolphin or similar
device in the classroom so the books can be checked out by the teacher to
the students and not have to go through the library.  Is this feasible? I
know that I will have to do the initial cataloging. Can you enter barcode
numbers in batches?  There are a total of over a dozen different titles that
they are going to be using.  Someone had the "bright idea' that all they
needed to do was to put the barcodes on the books and then scan then into a
database on their computer!  I explained that there was more to it than
that!  Still not sure that they totally understand the process but it was
our first discussion.  I would like to be able to go into the second
discussion with a little more information than what I've gleaned from
reading LM_NET.  TIA
