Hi,
I have received several positive responses to my inquiry about the performance and
cost ($219 for one) of the EIKI combination CD/Cassette player.

These are the responses I got:

This is my favorite listening center. You have a good price quote.

I think this is the EIKI 7070 model (?) and it is indestructable. The sound is
great and it records, as well. I think there are about 6 jacks. We had Califone
players before and none of them play a CD anymore.
The EIKI's stack in a closet easily and they are non-descript, making them unlikely
to be stolen, too.

I have been using this model for about 7 years. They are fairly reliable,
but any CD player will have it's problems. It is actually the only model I
could locate that is a combo machine that isn't a boom box type and allows
for listening centers. I got them for $199 from a vendor called Curtis a-v,
but the price may be higher now. The last time I bought one was two years
ago. The one drawback that I see is there is no "off" button that I can
find. You have to unplug it or the red light stays on. Most of the
teachers here connect them to a surge protector type strip so they can
easily turn the machine off.

We have hundreds of the Eiki cd/cas combo players in our district and we are
pleased with them. They have good sound, multiple headphone jacks, and often are
repairable when we send them out for repairs. Repairs that are needed are the
cassette lid is broken off by the kids or the CD player won't recognize the CD.
But, the percentage that have problems for us is low when you think about how many
we have in district.

Thank you to all who have responded. We've decided to order a couple.
