Q: I was just wondering if anyone knows of a simple way to transfer 8mm
film to VHS format without the use of expensive transfer equipment. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you to all that responded. Sorry for the delay---I was receiving an
extremely limited amount of messages from LM_Net. I also need to clarify--- 8mm
film refers to the old "filmstrip" and not the 8 mm video tapes. Nonetheless,
applicable responses included:

  1) Project the 8 MM film onto a screen and use the video camera to record it.
  2) Purchase transfer equipment (called a telecine) that works by projecting the
film into one window of the telecine and then use a video camera to record it from
a second window.
  3) A reminder that it is illegal to transfer film w/o proper permission.

Thank you once again. I can't wait to put those old family movies on tape!
