I received a number of responses that are positive about this product. I'll post a
few. I am going to order it.

I've used the World Almania game with 5th graders for the last few years. I put the
kids into table groups of 4 or 5, and they have to all have their finger on the
answer to get credit. I know that some of the kids are better at the higher level
thinking skills needed to find the answers, but I figure that these students help
the others along.
I do the skills pages with the kids before playing the game--especially the ones
about using the General Index and looking at the questions to find the key words to
look up.
My only gripe with the game is that the questions are quite wordy--there's a little
story that goes with each question, which I suppose is good for the kids' listening
skills, but it's time consuming to read all that. Also, there has not been an
electronic component to the game, and so I have to keep repeating the questions for
the kids as they're looking up answers. I wish there was a visual to go with the
question cards.
I think that the game could be played with middle schoolers successfully. They're
probably a little better at zeroing in on the key words and using the index.

Wonderful! I use it every year with my 6th graders. It is an activity they really
enjoy.
I don't actually use an almania board or anything just the questions from the flip
chart and masters that they send. We play for bookmarks. Table against table.
Everyone with an almanac.

I haveused it with 5th graders. I thought it was just a little above them. I
think it would be good for middle school. The questions can be very complicated.
Good for teaching them to listen for keywords, but, like I said, a bit much for
elementary.

I've used it and it is a big hit with the kids. I have both the elementary
and the middle school versions.
