Thanks to everyone who responded. The most commonly stated reason for buying from Listening Library is that they have a lifetime guarantee and will replace missing or damaged materials at no cost (that's definately worth the extra $10). Also Carol Simpson had this to say: "You are going to have to investigate each book to see what license is attached. I have seen hardcover books sold at Sams (a Wal-mart division) with a shrink wrap that says "not for sale to schools or libraries" — in other words, no first sale rights. Publishers are getting trickier about putting licenses on things they don't want to circulate. I expect that in our lifetimes we will see such licenses on print materials." Carol Simpson, Ed.D. School of Library & Information Sciences, University of North Texas I think I will stick to Listening Library. Any suggestions on the best places to purchase audio tapes for picture books?
