I haven't seen him, but do know that one of his books on American Indians was criticized by Betsy Hearne. Hearne is currently the Director of the Center for Children's Books here at UIUC. She has done some excellent work on folktales and how authors retell folktales. You can read the article in which she discusses Wood here: http://people.lis.uiuc.edu/~hearne/swappingtales.html For more of her writing on this topic, visit her page of selected articles. In particular, read her "Cite the Source" and "Respect the Source." http://people.lis.uiuc.edu/~hearne/articles.html Debbie >Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2006 07:36:08 -0600 >From: LISA DREESMAN <rlsdreesman@MSN.COM> >Subject: Gen: Doug Wood Author Visit (revised) > >I am interested in having Minnesota author Doug Wood (he wrote Old = >Turtle, among others) visit my grades 4-8 schools.
