Dear Colleagues, I am currently teaching a course in school library administration at the University of Arizona. In thinking about the school library's role in "Native American Month" or any other "month" for that matter, I have asked students to reflect on stereotyping in children's literature and on the content and purpose of school library collections. To that end, I have posted a 7-minute podcast titled "A Missed Opportunity" that tells of an experience I had in my first school library position. The tags are censorship, selection, and parental rights.
