I think that you were given misinformation or else I am misunderstanding what you are asking. I interpret your question to mean, what is it called when the name of a character is the same as the title of the book. An eponym is when someone's name is given to 'something' such as a 'sandwich' was named for the Earl of Sandwich. Alzheimer's was named after the dr. who identified it. Here is a site that lists a lot of them. http://members.tripod.com/~foxdreamer/page2.html Unfortunately I don't know the answer to what it is that you are looking for. Here is a site that lists all kinds of literary terms and I didn't find anything here. http://www.tnellen.com/cybereng/ lit_terms/terms/ Barb **************************** Barb Engvall =^..^= Teacher-Librarian John Campbell Elem Selah, WA macbarb@charter.net http://www.selah.k12.wa.us/JC/jc.cfm On Nov 6, 2006, at 12:02 PM, Lyle, Nancy wrote: > Thanks to all of you who quickly responded to my > query about the literary term that describes when > a person's name that is used as a title.
