My principal has had e-mails from him too.  It's interesting ,  isn't' it
that he approaches administrators and never librarians!  I did a bit of
digging and told her none of the titles were AR (and please, I'm not trying
to start an AR rant) which would make them a hard sell with our kids.  I
also told her that we'd get more bang for our buck if she let me spend the
same amount of money at thrift stores, garage sales and library book sales.

The latter argument was especially effective - Friday I spent $65 and got 35
like new hardbacks, with DJ and Mylar "I Can  Read Books" at a Friends of
the Library Booksale. I figure at today's prices those books would run me
close to $500 new.
