Hi All - As part of the US Department of State funded project "Middle East Information Portal" directed by Professors Ellis Goldberg and myself (Mike Eisenberg), we are conducting a survey on the usefulness of a possible Middle East Information Portal. I would greatly appreciate your help. We realize the demands on your time and would be grateful if you could give us 30 minutes of your time to answer some questions available through our Information Portal http://cluster.ischool.washington.edu/meip Completing this questionnaire is voluntary, of course. As a potential user of the Middle East Information Portal you will be given access to the mock-up Portal. The usefulness of the Portal will be assessed by asking you open and closed questions. Data will be collected about the nature and scope of content, quality of information sources, organization of the information, features of the Portal, and its ease of use. Additionally, you will be asked to provide, if possible, examples of specific Arab media sources that you recommend for inclusion in the Portal, and to share your opinions about the likely impact of the information Portal on the American public's understanding of the views and sentiments of the Arab world. Your response will remain completely confidential. The information from multiple participants will be aggregated for purposes of analysis and reporting. While participating in this study you will be introduced to a variety of information sources that could be of benefit to you in the course of your work and/or study, and for your general knowledge of current events from multiple perspectives. The Portal will make available a wide selection of the Arab media in English. This selection will facilitate a better understanding of the Middle East points of view thus facilitating cultural understanding. As well, this selection of information provides views that enable individuals to be more critical members of society in assessing current events and their impact on national and individual. Should you have any questions, concerns, or difficulties associated with participation in this project please contact me at the address shown below. We would greatly appreciate your feedback at your earliest convenience. We plan to complete our analysis of this survey by October 30, 2006. Thank you for your assistance. Thank you in advance for your help! Mike ........................................................................ ......
