Hi everyone! I have been in a public library for four years and this is my first year in a school media center (yay!). I'm thrilled to have the position (and overwhelmed, stressed, etc) but am perplexed by the condition of the books. It seems like half my collection is falling apart! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but not by much. Is this common? This might be a naiive question, but do school library books suffer more wear and tear than public library books? I'm wondering if the previous media specialist didn't have time to weed or if maybe these poor books just get 'loved' too much. Of course we had our books that needed to be mended in the public library, just not to this degree. Is this something I should prepare to deal with or just a ragged collection that needs to be weeded? I'm curious about your thoughts and experiences... As always thanks for your insight and input. -- Angie Woodson Media Specialist Van Buren Elementary 225 Shaw St., Plainfield, IN 46168 317-839-2575 awoodson@plainfield.k12.in.us -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
