[LM_NET] British authors

Our dual credit college English teacher always assigns a report on a work by
a British author. I have the classics, as well as J. K. Rowling and G. P.
Taylor, but feel that my collection of contemporary authors is lacking.
Help!
 
Who are your favorite contemporary British authors? 
 
I will post a hit if there is interest.
