Good Morning Everyone,
   
  I was asked to compile/provide a list of periodicals for the media center grades 
7 and 8 and some 6th. There are no periodicals yet-its a new library. The students 
in the middle school are a great majority African American with perhaps 25% 
together Hispanic and Latino and Caucasian. I would like to have a some Spanish 
magazines as well.
   
  I have $1200 as a budget and I will probably use Ebsco as the jobber. Anyone know 
any name more reasonable?  
   
  Some of the topics that are interesting to the kids are: sports, fashion, 
computer gaming--like most middle school teenagers.  Would also like to include a 
few educational mags.  MANY of the students here also have low reading scores so 
even a high interest/low reading magazome would be very worthwhile I believe.
  Your help is GREATLY appreciated.
   
  I am new to the school.  The library is BRAND new--no more funds except what they 
have laid out initially.  The school hasn't had a library or Media Specialist 
before and their goal and mission is to have the students reading scores go up.
