Hello, I teach kindergarten lessons for 40 minutes, and I'd like to get an idea of what you do with this age level. I am alone with them, and it's difficult for me to be behind the circulation to check out the books and leave them at the tables by themselves. Currently, I teach a 5-10 minute lesson while they sit at tables. Then they do a coloring activity or read books from the baskets on their tables while the class goes table by table to check out books. Then I pull them back together for another whole group activity and read them a story. Do you tend to do whole group lessons? Do you set up learning centers in your library? I've thought about having a listening center, a drawing/coloring center, a reading center, etc. Thanks for any ideas you can give me!
