From the March 9th newsletter for this database IMPORTANT - New IP Address for Access PA Database Beginning Sunday, March 18, 2007, the Access PA Database will have a new, temporary IP address. To ensure uninterrupted access to the Access PA Database, please make sure your computer(s) are able to connect to: http://205.247.101.15 If successful, you will see a message stating "CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully connected to Access PA IP Address 205.247.101.15." If you do not see this message, please ask your Technical Staff to allow access to that IP address through your firewall. Since this is a temporary address during our transition to an upgraded system, please make sure that firewall access to the existing IP address - http://205.247.101.11 - is maintained, because that address will be used again after the transition is complete. IMPORTANT - New Update Holdings System The Access PA Suport Center is pleased to announce that the new, improved online Update Holdings system will be released to all users on Monday morning, March 19, 2007. You may continue to use the current system up to the time of the switch to the new system, and all activity entered into the old system will be recorded in the Database. After the switch, the old system will no longer be available. The documentation for the new online Update Holdings system is available to download in either MSWord or .pdf formats on the Access PA web site by clicking on the link labelled Information for Libraries or by going directly to: http://www.accesspa.state.pa.us/info_lib.htm Please take a few minutes before Monday, March 19, to download a copy of the new online Update holdings system documentation. Changes to the Log In Procedure: Users may continue to access the new online Update Holdings system by clicking on the Update Holdings tab on the Access Pennsylvania homepage, or by going directly to http://205.247.101.12. When prompted to enter Login and Password, all users MUST enter the Username: wwcat and Password: wwcat, then click the OK button. On the Enter Initials and Password screen, please enter your existing Update Holdings username and password, then click the OK button. If you forget your password -- or want to use the system and do not currently have a password -- you must send a message to Access PA Support. Make sure the request for an online Update Holdings password includes the password you want to use and is sent from your library's ILL email address or Contact email address listed in the Access PA Participant Directory. Changes to Keywords Search interface: As in the current Update Holdings system, you must select the Keywords interface when you want to delete your library's holding from an existing bibliographic record or make a change to call number information. On the Keyword Search screen, note there are two radio buttons after "Display": All Records and Only, followed by a blank box. To limit a search to records that have your library's holding(s), select the Only box and enter your library's 5-character III-VDX code in the blank box. Do not hesitate to contact Access PA with any questions you have regarding the new online Update Holdings system. -- Stephanie Sweeney Librarian Eastern Lancaster County School District Garden Spot School 669 E.
