This is my first post, I've been lurking for a while, sorry in advance if I do something wrong. This is my first year as a media specialist. I am considered a special area teacher and hold 42 classes in a 6 day rotation (k-5). It is NOT working for me and I am trying to convince my principal to move to a flex schedule next year. She is open, but has given me the task of coming up with a special area schedule to get me out of the rotation. She is adamant about the teachers having 1 prep per day. If you have a similar situation and would like to share you entire school's special area schedule I would love the advice. We are going to be k-6 next year, have about 35 total classes, and have 1 PE, 1 ART, 1 Computers, 1 Music. I would like to keep the library open or part flex so I can work with the older kids doing research projects, right now I see them once every six days for 35 minutes. It's a nutso schedule and I can't get anything accomplished. Help?
