Hi folks - I need to pick your collective brains. After 15 years we finally have a beautiful new K-12 library media center. Thursday, May 3rd, we are having an open house to celebrate it. I would really like to have a VERY short (45 second - 1 minute) passage to read after I give thanks to several people and groups. There will be taxpayers, board members, staff, and maybe some students there but probably not more than 70 people. I would like to read one short something that speaks to all present about the importance of libraries and reading and information and/or learning - something that would be touching and if it came from a children's book all the better. Does anyone out there have a clue about what I might use? I know there are some longer quotes about libraries and reading. That might have to do the trick. If you have an idea for me, would you please respond to me directly? Thanks so much for any help that is provided.
