If you're using Lexiles and want to share information with your students, teachers, or parents about which books might be most appropriate for students' reading abilities, here's a site that provides a simple search to locate titles that will match. Titles can be chosen and lists can be printed to help parents / students / teachers for consideration. This is a pilot site which provides opportunities for parents and teachers to help students throughout the summer. http://www.lexile.com/findabook/ http://www.lexile.com/findabook/StudentInfo.aspx Here's a blurb from their site: *********************** "This site provides a quick, free resource to battle "summer slide" – the learning losses that students often experience during the summer months when they're not in school. Just click "Find a Book" to get started. Tell us what you want to read about. Fill a BookBag with books at your reading level, print it out, and take it to your local library or bookstore to get those books. Then get busy reading! Parents and kids can fill a family BookBag together and tape it to the refrigerator door to keep track. Teachers can fill BookBags to send home with their classes. Librarians can help kids fill a BookBag and then find those books on the shelves." ******************************** Enjoy! ~Shonda -- Shonda Brisco, MLIS Library Media / Technology Specialist Digital Bookends wiki / blog: http://digitalbookends.pbwiki.com http://shonda.edublogs.org/ sbrisco@gmail.com Resources for Texas School Librarians: http://txschoollibrarians.ning.com/ http://txschoollibrarians.wikispaces.com/ "Digital Resources" columnist School Library Journal -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
