A teacher will be taking on 7th and 8th grade in an poor, urban, primarily african american school district. She would like to know of absolute must reads. Ultimately she would like a well balanced list of contemporary/classics in a variety of genre's. If you could recommend a few with a sentence or two about it, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
