I wondered what the teachers at my school thought about this seemingly controversial subject. The Junie B books are very popular with the primary students. Most of them responded as this teacher did. "That was really interesting, and quite unbelievable! What next!! My kids love the series, and whenever I read a Junie B. book to them, they always notice the immature grammar and can't wait to tell me the correct way to say it. I never really looked at it as incorrect (and I'm a real stickler for that!), but just the realistic language of a 5-6 year old. If Junie B. ever grows up into a teenager in the series, and is still talking like that, then I would have a problem with it. Until then, I say...just lighten up everybody!"
