OK, after several years of discussion, our district will be going to a
flexible schedule for grades 3-5, K-2 will remain fixed. The 3-5 will have a
fixed 10 minute weekly book check out time, and I will meet with each clkass
at least 2 times per marking period. I will no longer be the prep to 3-5,
the Spanish teacher's lesson will be their prep.I plan to speak at the first
staff meeting to let the teachers know about this new plan, I have great
principal support. My problem is, I have no problem talking in front of a
class of children, but get very flustered talking to an adult group. Any
clues how to handle myself to get my points across effectively? I anticipate
negative reactions because of the loss of the prep-they seem to already
consider Spanish a prep although they can't leave their room they totally
ignore what is going on during the lesson. Somehow I have to convince them
as I believe already that this schedule is a good thing and will be a
benefit to students & teachers.
