I am chairing a task force for my county on how the school library can better support our ESL population. I am looking for ideas on what other librarians do in their library to support a high ESL population. Do you buy bilingual books? If so what percentage of your collection? Our ESL population is from 60 different countries not just Spanish speaking. So what other adjustments can we make to our collection? Does anyone know of any studies I can read on how school libraries impact ESL students? Any input is appreciated because I am in the beginning stages of forming our mission for this school year.
