Hey you all, I have a question I need help with and wanted to ask for your ideas. I am a media specialist at an elementary school in a small, rural unified school district of 1,000 students. We have three librarians in our district and we all considered aides. We fall under the authority of our county librarian who has her masters in library science. I have my BA in elementary ed. but did not get my student teaching done so I am not certificated. I am considering going back to school and am wondering if I should go through the process of teacher certification of an emphasis on library science or work toward obtaining my masters in library science? I want to go to the school board with a proposal that I would coordinate the districts library programs after I obtain the necessary degree or certification with the salary being equal to the job. I think it is important that we have a well developed library program in our district with the qualified staff to run it. I have been watching the SKILLS ACT with interest and think now is the time to approach our school board. What do you guys think and do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!
