I can certainly tell you have had a bad experience.

Not all IT depts. meet that criteria.
That is a bad as the people that say all media
specialists sit behind desks and do nothing all day.

And I always try to subscribe to the statement
Until you have walked in someone's elses shoes --don't
judge.

I am a media specialist and I am the director of
technolgy.

I attend meetings where media specialists are
criticized and I attend meetings where technology
folks are criticized.

I tell both groups
when you deal with the policies, procedures, etc that
each has to deal with then feel free to speak out.

But when you don't know what each other's problems 
are - how can you judge.
