Good morning all, I was asked to post a hit on this subject, sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Thank you all for your ideas. My original question was for a book for a nine-year-old girl who has a sibling with a serious illness and the 9-yr-old is feeling very left out. I got several suggestions and I also looked on Titlewave and I am posting those titles as well. Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars is about a child with a mentally challenged brother who gets lost. She realizes that she had been jealous of him but really loved him. Very poignant. Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick... only if they are a good reader... This is a middle school book about a boy whose brother is diagnosed with cancer Dancing with Katya by Dori Chaconas Depending on her reading level, Ida B is a great book dealing with a mom's serious illness and the loss of prized "friends". 09892R8 Lord, Cynthia.: Rules -- Scholastic Press, HRD 1 13.59 13.59 2006.
