Correct me if I'm wrong, but why would someone's writing skills dictate
their reading level? I've seen atrocious writing from doctors, and their reading
levels aren't considered to be low by anyone trying to decipher their
prescriptions.

Subject: TAR: 3rd gr low reading level-season of giving

My Dad pulled a name off a tree (to buy presents for an underprivileged chi=
ld) He said it is an African American boy in third grade, however from the =
printing on the letter my Dad felt he may not be reading at a third grade l=
evel. And he asked for books...YEA. Of course he wants me to go buy the boo=
ks and I am a bit stumped. Any suggestions of books that would interest a t=
hird grader(who we know nothing about) with a lower reading level ( sorry d=
on't know the exact level) I'm just swamped and drawing a blank.
