I just finished The Abstinence Teacher by Tom Perrotta. I
loved the characters and their intricacies. It's set in
NJ and is about a health teacher who is forced to adopt an
abstinence program in her classes. Actually, it was #1 on
the NY Times Most Notable Books of the 2007.
