Hello Destiny users, I have read all the great information in the archives where many of you have shared information on slow Destiny response time. It has been useful information. However, after having upgraded the server processor, upgrading all workstation memory, being assured the scanners are just fine, and adding those lines to the config files, I still have problems. I want to mention that all computer situations in the schools are the same: same browsers, same settings, same firewalls, etc. Our problem seems to happen about 2 hours after we start circulating and only at our elementary schools. We have open circ in the mornings followed by a fix schedule at the elementaries. That means we circulate a lot in a short period of time. (As opposed to our middle and high school where they don't circulate one book after another endlessly. They get some spaces in between users.) By 10 a.m., we have moved from a 1-2 second scanning time to a 4-5+ seconds and sometimes as high as 10 seconds. (Which seems like a year with a roomful of K-1!) Anyone out there with what I am calling "Destiny fixed schedule checkout syndrome?" I would love to hear from you. At this point, I'll take any brainstorming! We have put up screens to watch network traffic at that time and it is not showing a network problem. Oh, how I wish it would! By the way...thank you to those who responded to my question about enhancing records when converting. Follett has agreed to fix my problem without charge. I will say, Follett Tech support and Data folk have been wonderful to work with, although we can't seem to beat down this lag time problem. Maybe we just need a bigger stick. You're a great group to turn to...I appreciate that!
