Long-time reader, first time poster. I wanted to mention that the library media program in which I am enrolled, located at Fresno Pacific University, will soon offer its program entirely online. Since there are so few programs that do this, I thought a mention here would be in order. FPU will be offering both the school library media teacher credential and the master's degree in school library & information technology online beginning in May 2008. The credential is 32 units and the master's degree is about 42 units. As a student in the program, I have been very pleased with the quality of instruction and the relationship to the day-to-day life of a Teacher-Librarian. Since I already have a master's degree (in an unrelated field), I had decided to only do the credential. Being in the program has likely changed my mind and I could easily see myself completing the M.A. Yes, it really has been that good for me. If anyone is looking for a quality library education, my guess is that the program's director, Jo Ellen Misakian (jmisakian@fresno.edu) would be happy to talk with you. Likewise, if you want the inside scoop from a current student, feel free to send me an email.
