[LM_NET] Recommendations needed

Hello all,
 
I need your help.  Our English Department is looking to update its 9th grade AP/pre 
AP required summer reading list.  The list has not been updated in several decades, 
and they are looking for titles that are appropriate for 9th grade with high 
literary merit and teen appeal.  Needless to say, a tall order.  What books are on 
your required summer reading list for 9th grade?  What books from 2000 on would you 
recommend for inclusion?
