Hi,

I am the librarian at a Middle School and I am part of
a sixth grade team.I have a Target class(lessons are
taught) and at the end of the day Star(homeroom). I
told the team I am with about this list serv. where
questons are asked and solutions are given.

Some back ground. At this time we have two middle
schools: grades 6 thru 8. Each grade is divided into
two Houses: 6A, 6B(same with the 7th & 8th grades).
Each house has four core teachers: Math, science,
reading/english, and social studies. Other teachers,
like myself, are assigned a house(this is why I have a
Target group for 60min. after the students' lunch, a
Star: basically a homeroom.

Next year the new middle school will be open. The
district wants to do away with the current system.
With having a Group of 4 core teachers per house.

The new school will have around 800+ students; the
older school will have about 400+ or so. The older
school is to have the larger group of special ed.
students, many who are behavior problems.

The adminstration is talking about having a 2 or 3
person team per house, where each core teacher will
teach more than one subject.

The questions I was asked to present to this group
are:
Do you know of any reasearch on Middle School Designs;
models; programs; the house system?

2 person team vs 3 person team vs 4 person team.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,
