This morning was the last day of school before break. We only came for an
hour, just long enough to have a Christmas party and give out presents.
Everyone was scurrying down the hall loaded down with goodies and gifts. I
was on hall duty as the children were going to class when a Kindergarten
boy stopped and handed me a pumpkin toy and said, "I forgot to give you
this for Halloween." I told him he didn't need to give me a present, that
all I wanted was a hug (which I got!). Then I asked him if he really
wanted me to have the toy. He said yes, and I told him I needed another
hug then. We hugged and then I watched him go on off down the hall to
class empty-handed.
He really wanted to give someone a present today, and I was the lucky
recipient. I will treasure that pumpkin toy forever!
