I vaguely recall an important, leading voice in 
children's literature saying something like "we 
wish the complainers would just go away."  The 
person who wrote to me yesterday is not alone in 
her view of those of us who object to being misrepresented.

It's infuriating on so many levels, to be dissed and dismissed.

Do you know that American Indians serve in the 
military at higher rates than others? You know 
how important American Indians were in America's war efforts?

Back in March, I posted a review essay of four 
children's books about the Navajo Code Talkers. 
The essay is by Beverly Slapin. The four books are:

Joseph Bruchac's CODE TALKER
Nathan Asseng's NAVAJO CODE TALKERS
Sara Hoagland Hunter's THE UNBREAKABLE CODE
Kenji Kawano's WARRIORS: NAVAJO CODE TALKERS
