I have worked with students in grades 1-5 and the younger children love the
Caldecott winning books. We begin after winter break with a discussion of the
upcoming awards and the students get more and more excited as the date approaches.
The excitement on their faces when they show their friends the great award-winning
book they found is priceless.

The 5th graders enjoy the Newbery winners and play "Newbery Bingo" to acquaint them
with the many titles.

Children motivated to read...that's a winner in my book!!!
