Hello, I am trying to convince our admins. to allow our district's elementary media specialists to facilitate a 4th and 5th grade reading/book club type blog. Students would participate voluntarily and learn parameters for what makes a good book review. We would have a different theme each marking period; e.g. genres, Newbery, etc. Blogs and wikis aren't filtered (yet), and we're trying to show that blogs can be safe and educaional. Our district is quite conservative and wary of allowing students a presence of any kind on the Web. Please respond to me off list if you have a success story involving blogs, literature, and upper el age students. We'd like to share your experiences with our admins. Thanks!
