I recently joined the listserv, and recently started working in a middle school.
I'm hoping someone can give me some alternate resources. I have two eighth grade
classes doing research on controversial issues.

Topics include:
is assassination of a dictator justifiable?
Should tests and quizzes in schools be banned?
Should there be a cap on professional sports players' salaries?
should teens be tried for adults in death penalty cases?
and a few others, something about media influence...

We've tried Opposing Viewpoints and Issues and Controversies databases. We've
tried the archives of the National Forensics League website (can't search by topic,
so it's hard and time-consuming). we've tried International Debate Education
Association website. we've tried EBSCO.

Part of problem is that teacher brought them down last minute, wanted no lesson (we
had
no warning), gave them their topics right then and there (no time for them to think
or do background
searches or us to prepare, or have them do brainstorming about alternate search
terms,etc.).

thanks, -- please try to reply to my school email:
