Thanks to all the responses, they were very helpful. I received many
requests for a hit so here it is.

Although I am in a middle school I thought this would work for you as
well. To go along with the Read Across America theme we are taking
pictures of staff members reading Dr.Seuss books and will display them
in the library.
Our assembly that day will include readings from our more animated
teachers. The cafeteria is making green eggs and ham with a red and
white striped sheetcake.
We are also going to have a Red and White day where students wear red
and white in honor of The Cat in the Hat.

I'm at a junior high, but we're still going to celebrate all week.
We're having a Moo-ing contest for Mr. Brown can moo and we're having
kids take pictures of their pets in hats and then we'll post them and
have a contest for best picture. Crazy socks day for Fox in Sox. And
then on March 2, our 8th graders will be reading to 1st and 2nd
graders
and we also go our college football players (Boise State) to come and
read too.

We have dress up days for each day. Monday is usually get into the
spirit of

reading and students wear red which is the school color. It is easier
to have this

on Monday because they seem to remember to wear red as opposed to
bring a special

prop. We did crazy sock day once and that was kind of a flop. We have
PJ day on

Friday. This is their favorite day and they get kind of wound up so we
leave it to

Friday. Some of the other dress up ideas were: hat day, wearing
clothes with words

or places, wacky wednesday. If you need anything further let me know.
Good luck!

Friday is our big day, with no theme for dress. We're having a tree
planting ceremony--a "truffala" tree for our new science garden. We're
also having guest readers--firefighters, Marines, Navy officers, police
officers.
