Wise (& Experienced) Ones, I am a K-5 LMS and this is my 1st year in the Library. I am attempting to put into writing the expectations I have for students and their ability to use the library. I have searched the archives, but I still am not finding what I am looking for. I do have state standards (taken from Info Power) which are the same at every grade, but I am looking for a more practical application than that...more of the Outcomes Based/Measurable Objective of 10 years ago...a scope & sequence for the elementary level regarding practical library use. For example: at the end of which grade level do you expect students to independently use OPAC/card catalog? when are they expected to independently find a book using a call number and at what grade level should they do it with minimal assistance? We are fully flexible with students coming and going individually all day and students check out independently beginning in Jan. of Kindergarten. If you have anything like this that you would be willing to share, it would be of great help to this newbie. I'll post a HIT if there is any interest. TIA!
