LM_NET Archive

Hi,

I've been enjoying a break from school and have missed some of the
scrotum scandal. For starters, I thought a newspaper or any publication
first needed your permission to quote? In other words, how can the
"venerable" NYT simply search the LM_NET archive and steal thoughts or
words?

Secondly, how could anyone be surprised at AOL's depiction of a
librarian? They hardly provide high quality reporting...for instance,
the "News" page is riddled with filler like "Turtle Eaten by Golden
Retriever Lives". The article, if one could call it that, is now nowhere
to be found. Like most infotainment, we're yesterday's news. I'd
appreciate if someone would send me the original article link.

It might be effective if we write en masse and demand a special
librarian comment site at the Times; it's the least they can do. BTW,
does anyone know what the AASL is doing in response to this image
fiasco?

Laura

P.S. I hope all of you that have AOL accounts consider cancellation;
there are plenty of other (better) ISP services out there.
