On a more personal note, we read this book together as a family in anticipation of 
the movie.  My children are 8 and 10 and they loved the book.  It lead to some deep 
discussions in our house, but is wasn't Earth shattering.  They are looking forward 
to seeing the movie, knowing full well what is going to happen in the end.
