Good Afternoon! My guidance counselor has a group of 5th grade students that she would like to do a book study with. This is a group of African American students from an urban community. She wants something that is on a 4th grade level, but something they could identify with. She needs something like "The First Part Last" by Angela Johnson, "Monster" by Walter Dean Myers or "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. BUT it needs to be a clean version for elementary school students. Can anyone help?
