Thank you for all of your responses! Here is the promised HIT.

I posted the following TARGET: I am a MLS student and am working on a staff
development project for teachers in a middle school. My project is focused on
teaching them how to create and use web quests in enhancing the research process in
the media center. Do you know of any websites with sample web quests that focus on
the research process, can be used in the media center, and/or are short enough to
be completed in one class period. If you respond to me I will post a hit of the
responses.  Thanks for your help.

1. Check my site for a list of web quests. Some sites also offer information

WEBQUEST  SOURCES  #1

July  2006

Try QuestGarden. Free. Easy to use. Designed by the WebQuest pro.

http://webquest.org/questgarden/author/
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.org/questgarden/author/>

It might be possible to create a WebQuest in Word, but it would be very
inconvenient. You might plan it in Word and then move to an editor to create
some Web pages. A WebQuest by definition uses Web resources, and it's
easiest to embed the links in a Web page.

Bernie Dodge has put together a resource here: http://webquest.sdsu.edu/.
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.sdsu.edu/.>
Read all the training materials to get the main idea. When you're ready to
start, you can use the QuestGarden tool to create Web pages and put your
WebQuest on line.

webquest.org ? This is a great site that teaches you
everything you need to know about WebQuests.
Most WebQuests are built as webpage. With the new technologies involved in
word, you could build your webquest in Word and save it as a web page.
Word is famous for generating webpages that have messy code. If you have
made web pages before, I sugest using a web development program like
Dreamweaver, or even Netscape Composer, which you can download for free
with Netscape Navigator. If you have never build a web page, try the Word
route.

A Website for some hints and tips. And yes, you can
make one in Word.

http://www.internet4classrooms.com/quest.htm
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.internet4classrooms.com/quest.htm>

a mini-webquest template for those just beginning to
get into this form of instruction.

http://www.internet4classrooms.com/web_guide_how2.htm
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.internet4classrooms.com/web_guide_how2.htm>

Bernie Dodge's website http://webquest.org/
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.org/>   There
are very specific
directions on how to create a webquest and a vast array of ones that are
already created!

Resources for building web quests:

http://webquest.sdsu.edu/
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.sdsu.edu/>
http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/webquest/webquest.html
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/webquest/webquest.html>

They basically have an introduction, a task, a process, resources and an
evaluation/conclusion. Some web quests will have more steps. Most of them
are set up on one page, which is poor design. I am sending you one of my
examples. http://www.kidsnetsoft.com/lesley/webquest/introduction.html
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.kidsnetsoft.com/lesley/webquest/introduction.html>

(double click on the links, since a single click won't take you to the next
page) My web quest might have some mistakes, but you will probably get the
general idea how to layout the pages.

I make a template page, setting up all the links. Once the template page is
perfected, you can resave and rename the template page as the introduction,
task, resources, etc. You can use word to set these up if that is the only
program available. If you use word, make sure you save it as a web page.

one place you have to go; The WebQuest Page at San
Diego State University.

http://webquest.sdsu.edu/
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.sdsu.edu/>

The webquest website has just opened a new webquest editor at
http://webquest.org/questgarden/author/
<https://piratemail.ecu.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://webquest.org/questgarden/author>

it allows you to make a webquest even if you don't know html etc. They
also let you post it there and have many already made ones which you
might like to use.

useful especially the Webquest
templates that can be downloaded and used with any web authoring program
like Frontpage or Dreamweaver.
