Good morning,
I serve a K-5 school. Lately, I have had a plethora of 2nd grade students
selecting books that are way above their interest level and maturity level.
Oddly enough, this has nothing to do with the Higher Power of Lucky, but I can
see that this will be an issue for that book as well. Do you label books
that are more appropriate for the upper grades? If so, how do you label them?
This goes against everything I believe in, but this year I have had little
or no help and I am not always able to have that conversation with each and
every child before they check out their books. The reason behind all of this,
is of course, amassing quantities of AR points (and I won't even go there)
and girls who think they are wiser beyond their years. I have always believed
that kids are good self selectors. This year I am beginning to doubt
whether I am right about that. If you do label your books, please let me know
what
words you use on your label, and if there is an interest, I will post a hit.
TIA, and thank you to all of you for what you do for children each and
everyday!
