An activity that I have played with 1st-5th grades is "Oh the places
you'll go."
The class sits in a circle and one person begins by saying, "Oh, the
places I'll go I'm going to bring, an alligator (any A word)." The
second person says, "Oh the places I'll go, I'm going to bring an
alligator and a ball (any B word)." This continues all the way to Z. I
did this with 5th grade this week and they absolutely loved it. It
develops listening skills and forces the kids to listen and make
connections with the words that are chosen. Then, if there is time
left, I have another activity ready to go. For this class, I had
READING listed at the top of a page and they worked to see how many
words they could make using those letters.
