My original request was for an historical multicultural novel for 6th grade.
Here are the responses I received. Thank you all very much!

I now have a lot of reading to do!

> Sabanu, Daughter of the Wind and Haveli by Suzanne Fisher
> Staples                    Set in Pakistan
> Beduinsą Gazelle by Frances Temple                               Set in North
> Africa
> We use Anna of Byzantium in Nashville.
> I would suggest Alphabet of Dreams by Susan Fletcher, about a Persian
girl and her brother who end up in the caravan of the Magi following
the star to welcome the baby Jesus. There is no significant religious
message in the book, other than the fact that the Magi believe the
baby to be the king of the Jews. It is a fascinating look at life in
the Middle East during this time.

I have other suggestions of books that take place in the Middle East
on my website.

please use my historical fiction site

I read "The Shadows of Ghadames" by Joelle Stolz. It was interesting
and focused on women in a time ago in a Muslim country.
