A columnist for my local paper has addressed The Higher Power of Lucky in her
column today.
I am more concerned with her opinion of librarians than I am her opinion of the
book. I'm not sure where some of her information comes from, especially these
quoted below:
"Apparently, dogs' bodies have parts that are unmentionable. That's what scores of
librarians across the country must believe, since hundreds are banning a new
children's book from their shelves because it mentions an inappropriate word."
"As a result, the book already has been banned from numerous school libraries
across the country, despite the fact that most libraries and bookstores
automatically order at least two copies of each year's Newbery Medal-winning
children's books."

Overall, I feel that she has done librarians a disservice.
